Industry 4.0 (I4.0)

Industry 4.0 refers to the data-driven, AI-supported, networked “intelligent factory” (smart factory) as a harbinger of the fourth industrial revolution. This predicted transition of manufacturing processes and technologies is based on the core principles of the Internet of Things (IoT), the increased use of data through tools and systems that exploit the value of data to increase production efficiency and flexibility, the improvement of product quality and speed to market through virtual testing before production, and AI-supported and data-driven planning, production, manufacturing, and maintenance.
