Traceability/ Track & Trace

Traceability makes it is possible to determine at any time when and where a product or commodity was obtained, produced, processed, stored, transported, consumed or disposed of, and by whom. This path and process tracking is also called tracing.

Tracking and tracing thus describes the desire of manufacturers and consumers to record and digitally document changes in condition and location in order to record the history of a product.  This targeted data acquisition makes targeted recall actions possible.
